Log in to your OpenWrench account.
Click the Assets page in the left menu (or bottom right on mobile).
Select ADD ASSET.
Fill in as much information as you have about the asset.
Required fields are marked with a red asterisk (*).
Use the scanner in the Serial Number field to quickly scan the serial number if available.
If the unit is under warranty:
Turn on the Warranty toggle.
Complete the required warranty details.
Once saved, warranty information will appear on the asset page. Make, model, and serial details will be stored and shared with the warranty provider if you need service.
Editing an Asset
How to Edit an Asset on Mobile
To edit an asset from the mobile app, first navigate to the asset record:
Option 1 (Filter Method):
Go to the Assets page and filter by location to quickly find the asset.
Option 2 (Faster Method):
Go to the Locations page → select the location → scroll to the bottom.
All assets for that location will be listed. Tap “View All” to display the full alphabetical list.
Once you’ve selected the correct asset:
Tap Edit Asset.
Add or update any details as needed.
To enter a serial number quickly and accurately, use the scanner icon in the Serial Number field.
If adding photos, note there is no limit to the number of images you can upload.
When finished, tap Update Asset at the bottom to save your changes.
How to Assign a QR Code or Barcode to an Asset
Once the asset is created, you can assign the barcode directly from the asset record.
Assign the Barcode
Navigate to the asset record in OpenWrench for the unit you want to update.
Tap “Add QR Code.”
Scan the QR Code or barcode on the unit.
Confirm the Barcode
A confirmation window will appear.
Select “Yes” to assign the barcode to the asset.
If the barcode is incorrect, select “Scan Again.”
Once confirmed, the barcode will be successfully linked to the asset.
Using the QR Code or Barcode for Service Requests
You can now create a service request by tapping the QR Code icon in the lower left corner of OpenWrench and scanning the QR code or barcode.
